Our Associate Director Network Change Management is currently recruiting for a National Operations Manager Trainee to help strengthen his existing team team and help us achieve ever-greater heights.

Purpose of Position

As a Trainee National Operations Manager you will work alongside the National Operations Management team, who support our Network of 68 Depots across the UK through short-term and medium-term depot management. 

You will be given the training and development required to equip you with the skills to become a National Operations Manager or Operations Manager of the future.  This role is a great opportunity for a self-motivated and ambitious individual to carve out a career with the business.

Areas of Responsibility

Working with the National Operations team you will support designated depots across the South East and East Anglia through short-term placement and management so you must be able to travel to all depots in your region. In this role you will learn about all aspects of our operations processes and procedures to include:

  • Depot automated sorting equipment
  • UAT with IT Department
  • Project management
  • Train the Trainer to include mentoring and development of Designates and Graduates
  • All internal and external reporting platforms
  • Operations compliance with relevant legal and statutory regulations
  • Support Local integrations and the opening of new depots

You will also be required to take part in Operations Support projects, which will involve implementing operational changes based upon corporate strategy, identifying new opportunities for continuous improvement across the network in terms of challenging service targets and cost efficiencies.

About You

Operating in an environment where working efficiently under pressure and at pace will be the key to your success and you should also have gained strong people management experience. In addition, we’ll expect you to; 

  • Have demonstrable experience of mentoring, inspiring and leading teams enabling them to be amazing everyday
  • Your career history will show you are able to work collaboratively, have impact and influence at a variety of levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of Lean processes and change management within a fast paced distribution or similar operational setting would be preferred
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement strategies
  • Solid commercial and financial awareness
  • Demonstrate DPD DNA of; Accountability, Flexibility, Hard Work, Honesty, Passion and Respect

Specific Requirements

  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • A full driving licence, together with a willingness to undertake UK travel and stay away from home overnight when required
